Mayfield Falls Riverwalk Tour is operated by Chukka Caribbean Adventures. Tour groups get to experience the same Mayfield Falls as the tour from the original Mayfield Falls tour but they enter the river from a different property.
Go off the beaten path into the hilly areas of Westmoreland on an ecofriendly river adventure tour. You will climb rocks, swim in all-natural cascading pools, and through underwater caverns as you enjoy a one-mile hike up the Mayfield River.
Mayfield Falls by Chukka adventures main facility is nestled on a 14-acres property for exploration. There are multiple species of tropical plants, butterflies and tropical birds.
The Riverwalk at Mayfield Falls
Mayfield Falls excursion by Chukka Caribbean is a little different. The company operates the tour buses and the attraction, which means for one price you will get a pickup, scenic ride to the waterfall, lunch, and dropped off at your hotel.
On the other hand, tours to the original Mayfield Falls are operated by independent local tour companies, so everything is not covered with one price. If you request an independent tour operator, they can also take you to the Riverwalk if that’s your preference.
You’ll begin to feel at one with nature once you’ve arrived. You will travel down a nature trail with makeshift bamboo steps and rail guards.
Fruits trees can be seen on both sides of the path Avocado, Banana, Coconut, Orange, and Cocoa trees.
You’ll cross over a wooden bridge before arriving at the main entrance of the facility. In this area you can rent water shoes if you didn’t bring your own.
Mayfield Falls Riverwalk’s main building is a gazebo-style structure constructed from wood and bamboo. There are tropical flowers all over the property and an abundance of local fruits if you visit while fruits are in season.
You will experience what the company claims to be the longest Riverwalk in Jamaica. Your tour guide will also share interesting facts of the surroundings as you bask in the mineral-filled cascading waterfalls.
Mayfield Falls Riverwalk Tour:
The falls walk will last approximately two hours. There are a total of 21 natural pools for swimming.
Some of the natural swimming holes are deeper than some. Tour guides normally climb embankment and dive into the pools below.
Guides will also show you where to swim or jump into the pools. There’s also a specific pool where you can swim through an underwater cavern and emerge on the other side… you should try it! It’s amazing.
Here’s a famous part of the Mayfield Falls Riverwalk tour where you can climb onto a tree and jump into the pool. The deepest part of this pool is approximately 7 to 8 feet.
Line up and try this if you are not scared to climb onto a 6-feet tall tree stump. Afterward, the tour continues with a number of other pools all the way to the tallest waterfall dubbed the “Washing Machine”.
The “Washing Machine” is the tallest waterfall at Mayfield Falls. It’s approximately 9-feet tall… tall enough for you to walk into and get an all-natural water massage.
Riverwalk Falls tour is not wheelchair accessible and not recommended for visitors with mobility issues. We don’t recommend this attraction if you are pregnant or currently recovering from a medical surgery.
